Currently the Management Committee is applying for funding. Planning & Listed Building Permission have been granted for the major parts of the refurbishment. Priority is being given to the gas boiler and replacing the electrical systems.

Proposals for Refurbishment

Ground Floor

  • Reception Area – take out existing swing doors and make a hatch through to the office with a glass sliding window.
  • Take out existing lift, extra shaft and make into two store areas.
  • Build a shaft and install an 8 person lift up the internal stairs to the chapel.

First Floor

  • Stage Area – block up existing access and provide two new access points, including a platform lift to the stage from the new Green Room area in the Chapel section.
  • Dance Studio – Convert former chapel area into a Dance studio with a sprung floor and mirrors, to include cupboards at one end and refreshment facilities.
  • Provide a new staircase from the first to second floor area in the chapel section.
  • Main Hall – provide new kitchen and re- fit existing bar area.
  • Toilets – to be provided in current Green Room

Second Floor

  • Chapel Area – provide a mezzanine floor for office lets/ music room depending on demand.
  • Theatre Store – putting in an access hatch for scenery/ backcloths to be taken through.
  • Changing room/ Meeting Room/toilets– to be formed within existing storage area.
  • Battery Room – Remove existing plant and convert to store.
  • Gallery – upgrade seating and adjacent sound/lighting control.

General Repairs

  • External windows – Main Hall to be double glazed if possible, to reduce noise levels.
  • External and Internal doors to be replaced or renovated.
  • Floor coverings to be replaced.
  • Tiling at Main entrance to be renovated (these are of significant historical interest)
  • Repair glass canopy to East entrance
  • Refurbish existing toilets
  • Replace suspended ceiling in Baths Hall
  • Upgrade external lighting & signage
  • Replace electrical systems, lighting, fire alarm & emergency lighting
  • Replace gas boiler & heating system.
  • Upgrade external lighting & signage.
  • Replace girder under steps of Main Entrance.
